PHONE PLANS
The easiest way to participate in World Mobile is to use the network by switching your US phone plan from a legacy provider to World Mobile.
WHY?
If you have a “Big 3” phone plan it’s natural to ask “Why bother switching to a new carrier — it sounds like a hassle”. Here’s why:
- It’s easy — you can keep your number and in most cases make the switch in under 20 min.
- Cost — plans at $15, $24, $40 and $55 a month with no surprises or random fees.
- Coverage — multi-carrier setup means coverage you don’t need to think about.
- Earn back — Premier Rewards program lets you earn by growing the network.
- Identity protection available — protect yourself from scammers.
- SIM swap protection available — protect yourself from scammers.
- Built-in VPN — your data is your own, fully encrypted connectivity.
- No contracts.
STEP 1
Check Device Carrier Unlock Status
In order to sign up for a World Mobile plan, your device must be carrier unlocked. This means your device is not tied to an existing contract that restricts your ability to switch carriers. Carriers typically lock devices when offering a discounted phone at purchase, binding you to a longer-term contract in return.
Apple/iOS
- Go to Settings > General > About.
- Locate the 'Carrier Lock' section.
- If your device is unlocked, you will see 'No SIM restrictions'.
Android
- Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks.
- Locate Network Operators and search for available networks. If multiple options appear, your phone is likely unlocked.
STEP 2
Check Phone Compatibility
World Mobile requires an eSIM-compatible device. Verify compatibility using World Mobile's official resources. Note: the published list may not be fully current. Most smartphones released since 2018 — including recent iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, and Google Pixel models — support eSIM.
STEP 4
Follow the step-by-step process on your phone
Do not cancel your existing carrier first. Porting your phone number within the sign up process itself handles this. After the port completes, then call your old carrier to confirm the account status.
Have the following ready:
- Account number
- Transfer PIN — you will need to call your carrier to obtain this
- Billing ZIP code
